Local REACH
Local Reach at The Point challenges us to look beyond ourselves to the people around us and share the love of Christ as we serve and connect with our community. Local Reach will channel its full energy behind the Path Out of Poverty initiative, weaving together practical support with gospel-centered programs to empower and uplift individuals and families from financial hardship. This initiative was spawned from the question Pastor Gabe asked, “What would it look like to 100% of our church body focused on addressing one issue in the community?” That focus is to change the trajectory of poverty in the communities we serve through our Path Out of Poverty programs.
Local Reach for The Point includes:
Partnering with local partners already serving those in need
Local Reach groups serve our neighbors weekly in local neighborhoods every week
Our Path Out of Poverty programming
Flexible Serving Opportunities
Serving in Local REACH can happen any day of the week! We have several flexible and family-friendly serving opportunities available, like packing resource bags for members of our community. These provisions aim to alleviate the immediate burdens and identify opportunities to build trust in the communities that might benefit from other Path Out of Poverty programs. You can also help to stock our Dream Center Closet, which serves as the hub to supply practical needs in our community.

ACCESS POINT
Access Point is a foundational component of our Path Out of Poverty initiative, designed to serve those already serving those in need, such as teachers, community health workers, and first responders. This program aims to acknowledge and support these vital community pillars by providing encouragement, prayer, and practical resources. By assembling appreciation bags, adopting teacher lounges, and offering meals and other supports, Access Point strengthens community ties and builds a network of trust. This trust ensures that when community servants encounter someone in need, they can confidently refer them to The Point for further assistance, thus extending our reach and impact throughout the community.
The Hub
The Hub program will establish a resource center that serves as a hub for people to connect with other non-profit services in the community. This team will provide information on additional resources to address practical needs such as healthcare, housing, and legal services. It will also offer opportunities for individuals to connect with job placement services and other employment-related resources. By serving as a centralized hub for individuals to access these resources, the resource center will make it easier for those struggling with poverty to find the support and services they need to achieve financial stability and independence.

Pathway Mentorship
The Mentorship program is anchored in the principle of one-on-one gospel-centered mentorship, forging a deep connection between the volunteer mentors from our church and school-age kids and youth. Through one-on-one interactions, mentors and mentees explore life’s lessons and gospel values, engaging in discussions and activities that nurture a grounded character rooted in faith. The program aspires to shape a generation embodying a gospel-centered purpose and set mentees up for long-term success.
Local Reach Teams
Our Local Reach Groups are at the heart of our mission to embody Christ's love in our community. Each group is dedicated to specific underserved neighborhoods, where our team members spend time each week providing practical needs, offering prayer, and organizing activities for children. Through these consistent, compassionate interactions, we build meaningful relationships that reflect our commitment to being the kind of neighbor Jesus called us to be. By meeting both physical and spiritual needs, we aim to bring hope and transformation to these communities, fostering a supportive environment where everyone can thrive.
