Scripture:
"Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of hosts. Who are you, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you shall become a plain. And he shall bring forward the top stone amid shouts of ‘Grace, grace to it!’” (Zechariah 4:6-7)
Reading:
An angel foretold that Zerubbabel would complete his enormous rebuilding assignment with shouts of God's people recognizing the blessing. "...And he shall bring forward the top stone amid shouts of ‘Grace, grace to it!’” (Zec. 4:7)
Believer, you have been grafted into this same family of God where all of His promises have been fulfilled in Christ (2 Corinthians 1:20). Imagine angels shouting, "Grace! Grace to you," as you work with the Holy Spirit to fulfill your calling. Heaven clearly recognizes God’s gift to you: "the immeasurable riches of His grace" (Ephesians 2:7) available to you through prayer and holy dependence.
In Christ you have...
1. saving grace establishing you in a close relationship with your Creator (Romans 5:9).
2. justifying grace clothing you in Christ's righteousness as if you never sinned (Romans 3:24, Zec. 3:4-5).
3. teaching grace training you to live as God intended in order to bless your life and others (Titus 2:12).
4. enabling grace supplying supernatural empowerment to know and do God's will regardless of your weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9).
Grace reveals God’s power and presence on the earth so that no one can miss Him, especially you. Give yourself and your plans to Him daily and see the evidence of His Spirit moving in your life. God loves humble, insignificant beginnings as much as He loves glorious conclusions.
Reflection:
1. Recall a time you found depending on the Holy Spirit and His grace more effective than might and power.
2. What has God called you to do that you need to finish? What does He want you to begin?
Prayer
Father God, out of Your goodness You have established me in Christ through faith. Thank You! Your grace is awesome, and I surrender my life to You again. I ask the Holy Spirit to fill me and for an outpouring of Your grace. It is in the holy name of Jesus Christ that I pray; amen.
