We Do Recover

Today’s Reading

God’s Word tells us, “No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and He will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation He will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.” (1 Corinthians 10:13, ESV)

No matter how seemingly impossible your situation may appear, whether you are battling addiction, depression, anxiety, or stress, know that God always provides a way of escape. If God’s Word tells us there is a way out, expect Him to show up and provide a way for you.

At an early age, I used drugs to escape a reality that seemed impossible to live sober. I did not listen to what God’s Word said, and as a result, I found myself in a desert for the better part of ten years. It was not until I fully surrendered my life to Christ, and accepted that I could not fix myself, that I began to climb out of the hole I had found myself in. At this point, I yearned to change my life, and wanted to be a better person. I went to a faith-based recovery rehab for one year and had an encounter with God that changed the whole trajectory of my life.

I want you to know if you are struggling with addiction, reach out to someone who loves you and tell them what is going on. There is no shame in admitting you have a problem. We were not created to live in isolation; rather, in community with like-minded people.

Here at The Point, we offer a group for men in recovery. In this group, you can expect to be heard, be surrounded with people who have been where you are, and ultimately find freedom and break the chains of addiction. James 5 tells us to “Confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed” (James 5:16, ESV).

Prayer

Lord Jesus, we thank you for never forsaken us, even in our darkest seasons of life. Thank you for Your Word, and the power it has to break chains and experience freedom. May we have an encounter with you that leaves us forever changed. We give you all the praise, in Jesus name, amen.
