Prayer is Partnership

Scripture:

“Because of Christ and our faith in him, we can now come boldly and confidently into God’s presence.” (Ephesians 3:12)

Reading:

Prayer is God’s idea. Truly, it is a brilliant gift that through Christ we have direct access to God through the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 2:18).

Certainly, life will continue to move along if we do not pray, but we will miss much of the spiritual treasure and relationship Christ has given us. How often do we hear, “You do not have, because you do not ask.” (James 4:2)

We have the promises of God’s good gifts in our lives – His peace, provision, and protection to name a few.

“Who among you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask him.” (Matthew 7:9-11)

God is inviting you into partnership. Be His co-worker in prayer by bringing the details of your life into His shadow for safekeeping. Intercede on behalf of others. Come to Him with a willingness to be led by His Spirit. Pray for the impossible!

Through Christ you have direct access to God. Pray boldly and confidently knowing that “all things are possible with God.”  (Matthew 19:26) In partnering with God through prayer the Lord will do more in you, for you, and through you than you could ever imagine.

Your Turn:

1. What is your greatest need? Set a daily reminder to pause and present your request to God this week.

2. Choose a scripture from above. What does this verse mean to you? How does it apply to your life?

Prayer:

Glory to you, God. By Your mighty work within me You are able to do far more than I would ever dare to ask or even dream of – infinitely beyond my highest prayers, desires, thoughts, or hopes. I bring you my request today. In Jesus’ powerful name I pray, amen. (Ephesians 3:20)
