Impossible Situations

The fury of an impossible situation can feel like a death sentence. The truth is- your problem is not greater than Jesus Christ. Your challenges do not surprise the sovereign God who says, "Call on me in the day of trouble; I will rescue you, and you will honor me.” (Psalm 50:15)

God’s rescue is exactly what a captive teenager experienced under the irrational demand of a violent king. Only God "whose dwelling is not with mortals" (Daniel 2:11) could know what the king dreamed and what it implied. However, Daniel knew the living God. His perspective was not on the threat of death, but the sovereignty of God.

"The king replied to the Chaldeans, “My word is final: If you don’t tell me the dream and its interpretation, you will be torn limb from limb, and your houses will be made a garbage dump." (Dan. 2:5)  Without God’s intervention, Daniel was doomed as an associate of the king’s prestigious men. However, along with Kingdom perspective Daniel had allies. He "urged them to plead for mercy from the God of heaven concerning this mystery, so that he and his friends might not be executed with the rest of the wise men of Babylon." (Dan. 2:18)

Prayer is not only important, it is essential. Daniel knew he was powerless to save himself. He fervently asked God for mercy, not only for his own life, but for the lives of his friends and community. The stakes were high, so Daniel bowed low knowing God gives wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. Then incredibly, Daniel rested. "During the night, the mystery was revealed to Daniel in a vision. Then Daniel praised the God of heaven..." (Dan. 2:19)

I imagine Daniel's praise spilled everywhere he went that day (see Dan. 2:19-23). With enthusiasm, he explained honestly to the king that "there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries." (Dan. 2:28a) Daniel celebrated the greatness of God and the only Kingdom that will endure forever.

God honored Daniel for his faithfulness. The same is true for you as you seek God's will and obey Him. Not even an impossible situation can thwart God’s plan and purpose for your life. Continue to call on your Heavenly Father and praise Him for how He will reveal His greatness.

Prayer:

Lord God, You are greater than my problems and have perfect understanding. I ask for Your wisdom and help. May you receive all praise and glory. Thank You, Lord Jesus. Amen.
