In Your Going

Scripture:

“I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 1:3-6)

Reading:

God is not a quitter. He is altogether different from our nature. The One who “uses his powerful word to hold all things together” (Hebrews 1:3a) will not grow weary of calling you to share His gospel.

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” (Ephesians 2:10)

Everywhere you go, whether to the grocery store or to a foreign nation, God has designed, called, and prepared you to reveal Christ. “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—” (John 15:16a)

Your role in this partnership with the Holy Spirit is to ‘place & embrace.’ “Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him.” (Romans 12:1-2 MSG)

Next, “fix your attention on God.” (Romans 12:1-2 MSG) This passage goes on to promise that God’s grace will enable you to discern and quickly respond to what He wants you to do.

Not only will this bear good fruit to feed others spiritually, but you will grow to be more like Jesus Christ. “God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.” (Romans 12:1-2 MSG) This is good news!

By placing your life before God, embracing His grace, and fixing your attention on Him, you position yourself for Holy Spirit to do a powerful work through your life. Regardless, God will never quit His perfect work in you. (Phil. 1:3-6) May you trust that Jesus Christ is at work, choosing and lovingly embracing you as His partner in sharing the gospel.

Reflection:

How will I fix my attention on God today? With whom is God calling me to share Jesus?

Prayer:

God, thank You for wanting to bring the best out of me. I place my everyday life before You and embrace Your unfailing love. Lord Jesus, make me more mindful of You. Amen.
