Growing up in Louisa, Virginia, Pastor Gabe accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at the age of 15. Following his graduation from James Madison University in 2002, he took part in his first church plant and it was during this time, he met his wife, Kari, where they led worship together for the first three years of their marriage. They also taught at Louisa County High School, where Gabe coached football, basketball, and baseball and Kari coached cheerleading.

In the summer of 2007, Gabe and Kari moved to Lynchburg where they both became full-time seminary students at Liberty. They both graduated from seminary in the spring of 2009 and on June 15, 2009, moved to Charlottesville to lead a church planting team in starting The Point. They were joined by a team of graduates and current students from Liberty University as well as residents from Charlottesville and the surrounding counties. Gabe and Kari have three daughters, and one son: Cana, Miriam, Ella, and Gabriel.
